TO FAST OR NOT TO FAST? That is the question. Or God’s request?
There are seasons inside the “season” of fasting. Some days go swimmingly and other days you feel like you’re drowning (as the devil keeps whispering lies). Here’s the good news – Jesus never leaves us AND HE keeps us afloat.
Habakkuk 3:18 “I will rejoice in the Lord! Be joyful in the Victorious God of my salvation. The Sovereign Lord is my strength, my personal bravery, my invincible army. HE makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me to walk (swim) and make spiritual progress upon my high places of trouble, suffering or responsibility”.
Did you know …..
~ Our spiritual ears are heightened; made more alert when fasting. When HE whispers “Come away with me My love” you’ll drop everything and run to draw closer to Him.
~ Our eyes are brightened and you’ll begin to see wickedness from God’s viewpoint. Your prayer life may become more intense. And you will also see HIS beauty.
~ Our hearts are made tender and we fall more deeply in love with HIM.
~ Our abstaining helps us to focus on prayer and seeking God’s will for our lives and the lives of others.
~ Our fasting creates an intimacy with Jesus and there is nothing sweeter than the presence of God.
Did you also know….. I Thessalonians 5:23-24 says ….”May your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. God will make this happen, for HE who calls you is faithful”.
Of course you can swim, HE will make sure and REMEMBER HE is in the fast with you because HE is the RIVER OF LIFE. HE will hold you up. HE will draw you closer to His heart.
JUST AN EXTRA NOTE: When you read II Kings 19 about King Hezekiah you’ll see a kind of fast that causes you to HOLD FAST TO GOD AND HIS PROMISES. Victory is ours!!
